The Central Luzon State University - Gender and Development Office (CLSU-GAD), in collaboration with Central Luzon Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (CLAARRDEC) conducted a 2-day writeshop titled Translating Research Results into Scholarly/Publishable Paper: Technical Writeshop for Publication in Refereed Journals held on June 26-27, 2025 at the R&E Amphitheater, CLSU, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija.
Dr. Emmanuel M. Vera Cruz, CLSU Vice President for Research and Extension and CLAARRDEC Director, commenced the program with a welcome remark. In his address, Dr. Vera Cruz reminded the participants that publishing scholarly works is a long process that demands both dedication and discipline.
Dr. Hazel Monica M. Peralta, CLSU-College of Fisheries Acting Dean, provided an in-depth discussion on Technical Writing for Publication in the Field of Applied Science. Her lecture covered a range of essential topics, including publication ethics, steps in manuscript preparation, and effective interpretation of research results and discussions.
In addition, Dr. Peralta introduced participants to digital research platforms such as ORCID and ResearchGate, guiding them on how to build professional profiles and engage with the broader scientific community. She capped her presentation with the use of AI-assisted tools like ChatPDF, offering prompts and suggestions for enhancing the structure and quality of their manuscripts.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jaime A. Manalo, Career Scientist II and Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice)-Socioeconomics Division Head, led the session on Technical Writing for Social Science Publications. He shared practical techniques for clear and concise writing, including rules on numerical data presentation, concept mapping, efficient literature review, and framework integration.
The workshop concluded with the awarding of Certificates of Appreciation and Completion. Followed by a closing remark delivered by Prof. Janet O. Saturno, CLSU GAD Office Director, encouraging researchers to remain committed to the pursuit of publication and to continue contributing to the advancement of knowledge through scholarly work.
Over 65 participants from Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC), Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU), Department of Agriculture Region 3, Department of Agriculture – Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech), Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST), Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU), Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), Watershed and Water Resources Research, Development and Extension Center (WWRRDEC), PCC at CLSU, and the different CLSU offices and R&D Centers, actively engaged in the said workshop.
