The Central Luzon Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (CLAARRDEC) held its 2nd Quarter Joint RRDCC and Experts Pool Meeting on June 20, 2025, at the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Carabao Center (DA-PCC) National Headquarters and Gene Pool, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija.
Dr. Marvin A. Villanueva, Scientist I and Chief of Livestock Biotechnology Center at DA-PCC, commenced the event with a welcome message to the participants on behalf of Dr. Liza G. Battad, DA-PCC Executive Director and Vice Chair of RRDCC-CLAARRDEC. He also shed light on the overview of programs, trainings, and projects conducted by the Center.
Following this, Dr. Eufrocina P. Atabay, Scientist II, Head of IP-TBM Office at DA-PCC, delivered an in-depth discussion on the agency’s Research and Development (R&D) Program and Technology Product Innovations. She emphasized the DA-PCC’s thematic and priority R4D areas and showcased its top technologies ready for commercialization.
Moreover, Dr. Emmanuel M. Vera Cruz, CLAARRDEC Director and Vice President for Research and Extension at Central Luzon State University (CLSU), presided over the meeting and led discussions on matters arising from the previous meeting’s minutes.
Dr. Aldrin E. Badua, Technology Transfer and Promotion Coordinator of CLAARRDEC and CLSU Extension Program Office Director, presented a proposed radio program titled “Tekno-Skwela sa Himpapawid.” The initiative is a collaboration between CLAARRDEC and the DA-Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), which aims to reach grassroots communities through informative and educational radio content. Assoc. Prof. Maria Adrielle S. Estigoy, Science Communication Coordinator of CLAARRDEC and Presidential Management Services Director, offered valuable feedback and recommendations including a centralized broadcast platform for the program.
Furthermore Dr. Jeanie-Rose G. Fabula, Associate Professor II at the Crops and Resources Research and Development Center (CRRDC), presented guidelines in conducting Inter-CMI Impact Assessment Projects, providing clarity on the framework for evaluating collaborative research outputs.
This was followed by Dr. Geraldine C. Sanchez, R&D Coordinator of CLAARRDEC and Vice President for Research, Innovation, Extension, and Training at Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU), who led the presentation and approval of the upcoming 36th Regional Symposium on R&D Highlights, which will be hosted at the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech).
The meeting concluded with the approval of the official designation of new Experts Pool representatives and the harmonization of CLAARRDEC activities with the Central Luzon Agriculture and Fisheries Resources Research and Extension for Development Network (CLAFRREDN), ensuring aligned efforts for impactful regional development.
A total of 37 participants actively engaged in the program from various member institutions including Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT), Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU), Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC), CLSU, Department of Agrarian Reform III (DAR3), Department of Budget and Management III (DBM3), Department of Science and Technology III (DOST3), DA- Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources III (DA-BFAR3), DA-PCC, National Irrigation Administration III (NIA3), Nueva Ecija University for Science and Technology (NEUST), PSAU, President Ramon Magsaysay State University (PRMSU), PSAU, PHilMech, Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD), Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), and Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) Nueva Ecija.
