The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) conducted an Annual Review on the Native Pig Project held on March 26, 2024, at the CLSU Admin Conference Room, Science City of Muรฑoz, Nueva Ecija.
The meeting commenced with an opening message delivered by Dr. Emmanuel M. Vera Cruz, CLSU Vice President for Research and Extension and Central Luzon Agriculture Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (CLAARRDEC) Director. He acknowledged the dedication of Small Ruminant Center (SRC) whose effort is advancing livestock research.
Meanwhile, Dr. Synan S. Baguio, Director of PCAARRD Livestock Research Division (LRD), provided insights on the importance of giving livelihood opportunities to agripreneurs in the livestock sector.
โ€œAmong the sub-sectors in agriculture, nasa livestock namin nakikita โ€˜yung opportunities to establish a sustainable and profitable livelihood,โ€ Dr. Baguio emphasized.
Furthermore, Mr. Neal A. Del Rosario, SRC Director, presented the update on the status of Native Pig Project 3, Performance Evaluation of Selected Native Pigs Following the Most Common Feeding and Management Practices in the Area. It was then followed by feedback from the PCAARRD Evaluators.
The meeting concluded with a closing message from Mr. Kier G. Santiago, Program Leader, who expressed gratitude to PCAARRD Evaluators, CLAARRDEC Secretariat, and SRC for continued teamwork and collaboration for the success of the project.
Through this initiative, PCAARRD and CLAARRDEC reaffirmed the commitment to advancing sustainable livestock production and empowering agripreneurs in the livestock sector.
