The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) and the Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) conducted a forum on June 15, 2017 at Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC).
The highlights of the event were the conduct of the technical briefing on coconut production and farm management as well as ceremonial distribution of coconut seedlings. A total of 100 coconut seedlings were distributed for selected farmers during the forum.
To implement the CSDP, a memorandum of agreement was signed between PCA and PGB wherein the former committed to give 25,000 coconut seedlings.
Before the distribution, PCA and Provincial Agriculture Office of Bulacan will conduct a field validation based on the master list of farmers submitted by the Municipal Agriculture Office.
Moreover, an initial of 10,000 coconut seedlings will be distributed in July this year to 200 farmer-recipients. Each farmer will receive 50 coconut seedlings, which is good for half-hectare.
With this initiative, Governor Alvarado hoping the Bulacan will be one of the major coconut suppliers in our country or even for exports in the near future.
