PSAU battles environmental degradation with its bamboo technology

Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU) innovates new methods and technologies to address environmental degradation in municipalities of Pampanga.

Research, Extension, and Training (RET) Office introduced sustainable bamboo propagation and shoot production that effectively reduce soil erosion and deforestation. In addition, these technologies were generated for the assurance of having continuous production of bamboo seedlings with high survivability and more economic benefits concerning production.

These technologies were continuously growing and being showcased in different places in Pampanga. More researches and studies go on as it is funded by Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD). Dr. Honorio M. Soriano, SUC President, and Prof. Joel Q. Maliwat, Director of bamboo and rattan project, lead program and projects for uplifting bamboo farming towards environment preservation.

Some reports revealed high acceptance of the products among communities of Pampanga. As a result, this will lead to establishment and expansion of new plantations.
